1st June YiA applications submitted

After long days of work in preparing the forms of Youth in Action, the European Commission makes available on its website, the team Where Does Europe End, with several of its members, and responsible for the forms, fully immersed in the Y-vote campaign in the UK, has managed to send the forms successfully.

They cover the events in late 2009 and early 2010.
First, in Lund (Sweden), by the end of 2009, and second and third place, Baku (Azerbaijan) and Leon (Spain) in early 2010.

Now, let’s keep fingers crossed until the results will arrive

and of course, congratulations to the team for the hard work carried out!

YiA grant for Hungary accepted

Where Does Europe End team is very proud to announce that the YiA application results finally arrived to our dear CD house in Brussels.

The application for the kick-off event in Köszeg, Hungary, was accepted.

The team is really willing to see you all in Hungary in September.

Brussels meeting 13th-15th March 2009.

Taking place in the CD house (Comité Directeur), those 3 days were the final complement of the team building stage, already started via online platforms and partially in AEGEE EBM (European Boards’ Meeting) Torino in February 2009. It was the first time when all the team members were together. Lots of conversations, questions, smiles and good moments were shared during this meeting, which increases motivation and team-working. But appart from good time, some points had to be reached, and the team did achieve them as it may be read in the lines below.

Aims of the project.

After several considerations, the team achieved a common frame where to work on, and the main aims of the project might be expressed in the following way:

1. Examine the physical and mental borders of Europe in people’s perception

2. Confront society with the variety and complexity inherent to the concept of Europe

3. Challenge common misperceptions about Europe

4. Create a European platform for mutual understanding and tolerance

Task division.

According with motivation, personal skill and personal interests, the tasks were divided by a common and democratic decision. As the reader may notice, the names of the core team and their respective tasks are:

Dora Monogyiou – Project Manager

Casper Wolf – Treasurer

Thomas Leszke – Fundraising

Fernando Martín – Public Relations

Mario Varrenti – Communications

Orsi Cziráki – Events Responsible

Percin Imrek – Content Responsible

All of them, from absolutely different countries from eastern to western Europe.

Next term

Regarding to next term plans the core team has planned to submit a new application for the Youth in Action programme by the first of June, including the three events that after the kick-off conference in Koszeg, Hungary, on the 9th of September 2009. AEGEE Pecs will be the host antenna.

Since the project wants to cover most of the territory of Europe with conferences and case study trips, the team has studied where and when to locate the them, taking into account the geographically position, the possible points of view of the people and the impact that the project might cause in those countries, among other ones. It has to be said that the presidency of the Council of Europe was also taken into consideration for locating the events in the most interesting dates.

Next events will probably be in December to February in Scandinavia, the Caucasus and Spain. Mario, who already started his duties during the meeting, and he contacted with AEGEE-Lund (Sweden), who are getting ready for being one of the first steps of Where does Europe end project.

Some people already showed the interest of hosting the project in their countries as Baki in Azerbaijan, who are really willing to participate.
